Movie fans (and animals too!) have been raving about Nickelodeon Movies’ new animated comedy, Barnyard, since it first made its way into theaters in early August. After all, what’s better than trading in the summer heat for a nice comfy air-conditioned theater and an afternoon full of laughs and snacks? Not much!
In this lighthearted flick, Otis the cow suddenly finds himself in charge of the farm. He’s expected to run things the way his father, Ben (the wise, respected patriarch of the farm), did, which means no dancing, singing, watching TV through the windows, or playing tricks on humans. See, Otis and the rest of the animals are supposed to keep their humanlike qualities a secret, but that’s just not something Otis is very good at … or cares about, for that matter. Even in the real world, farmed animals are a lot more like you and me than some people think—they love their families, like to have fun, and can feel pain and sadness too. Which is exactly why we don’t eat them, right?
Think Otis will be able to keep it together and be a successful leader? There’s only one way to find out, so rush out and see Barnyard today, and maybe even ask the ’rents to buy it for ya once it’s released on DVD. We’re sure you’ll want to see it over and over again. We know we do.
