Cutest Vegetarian Kids Contest 2011 Finalist Round!
Cutest Vegetarian Kids Contest 2011 Finalist Round!

After searching through hundreds of entries, we've narrowed it down to these 10 finalists, who we think represent the cutest of the compassionate cutie pies. Using the form below, cast your vote to help us choose which boy and which girl will be crowned the Cutest Vegetarian Kids of 2011! Be sure to cast your vote below for one boy and one girl.

Not only will the winners receive lifetime bragging rights, they will also be announced to their hometown media, and they'll get a special prize pack filled with PETA goodies and the opportunity to appear in their very own PETA Kids ad!

Four factors will be given equal consideration when PETA Kids chooses the winners: the passion demonstrated in submitted responses, the number of votes received from the public, the enthusiasm demonstrated by the entrants in living and promoting a vegetarian lifestyle, and PETA's assessment of the cuteness of the photo. Winners will be announced on November 17, 2011.

Age: 10
Hometown: Olathe, Kansas

Avery loves to play soccer, dance, and volunteer at the local animal shelter. Her family has been vegetarian for three years and vegan for the last 12 months. Aedan

Name: Aedan
Age: 3
Hometown: Lackawanna, New York

Aedan and his family have been vegan for almost three years. He has helped educate his grandmother on veganism and has almost turned her into a full vegan during the last year. He makes it his mission to tell strangers about being vegan. When he is at the playground, he walks right up to every family and asks them if they drink cow's milk. If they say "Yes," he tells them why humans shouldn't take milk from cows.

Kadah

Name: Kadah
Age: 8
Hometown: Pickerington, Ohio

Kadah is a very dedicated animal lover. She decided to commit to being vegetarian a couple of years ago. She has always loved healthy fruits and veggies, and she helps with the family garden every year. Kadah also helps her mom with fostering homeless animals. She also enjoys taking care of her own companion animals by helping feed and care for them and even reads them bedtime stories! She enjoys answering questions from other children about why she is vegetarian.

Jett

Name: Jett
Age: 2
Hometown: Mountain View, California

Jett has just recently decided (with the help of his two brothers) to go vegan! Although he's only 2 1/2 years old, he's learning all about where food comes from, how special animals are, and why we should respect them and take care of our Earth. He loves eating fresh broccoli from the garden.

Lillian

Name: Lillian
Age: 3
Hometown: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Lillian is a very passionate little girl who is filled with empathy for all living beings. She is vegan and understands why it is cruel to eat meat, eggs, and dairy products. She never has an issue with not being able to eat treats that other children her age do, and she often tells people of all ages what is in the things they are choosing to eat. Lilly loves to play super hero and often announces that she is going to rescue all the baby cows who are taken away from their mothers and bring them back safe.

Owen

Name: Owen
Age: 5
Hometown: Scottsdale, Arizona

Owen was raised vegetarian, and when he was 3 years old, he noticed that his mother (a vegetarian) and his father (a meat-eater) ate differently and asked why. After hearing both sides, he chose to stay vegetarian. For his fifth birthday party, he chose to donate all the money from his piggy bank ($42) to a local animal shelter. He also asked for donations in lieu of receiving party favors. In Owen's words, "Animals are my friends, and I don't eat my friends."

Samara

Name: Samara
Age: 7
Hometown: Grandville, Michigan

Samara has been vegetarian her entire life. She is the only vegetarian in her school and has put up with teasing and name-calling, but she has always stood her ground and stayed true to her beliefs. She now always asks if there are any animal products in foods and shops only for ethically produced merchandise. She even refused to sit on a leather chair at a hairdresser because she "didn't want to sit on a dead animal."

Raziel

Name: Raziel
Age: 8
Hometown: Flagstaff, Arizona

Raziel has been a vegetarian for three months and is considering going vegan. He won't use products that have been tested on animals and won't wear animal fur or wool. His favorite things to do are play with his puppy and play games on PETAKids.com. He's a very compassionate child and tells all his friends, "Only zombies eat flesh."

Trinnu

Name: Trinnu
Age: 8
Hometown: Orleans, Massachusetts

Trinnu has been vegetarian since she was born. She began learning about the horrific treatment of farmed animals before she was a year old, with visits to the Farm Sanctuary in New York. She began sponsoring a pig who lived there and now sponsors a goat named Zuzu. Last year, Trinnu did the local walk for farmed animals and proudly led the walk with her own chant: "Don't eat meat!"

Ryan

Name: Ryan
Age: 2
Hometown: Damascus, Maryland

Ryan was adopted from China in February 2011 when he was 18 months old. He had a cleft lip and palate and has undergone two surgeries since arriving in the United States. Ryan began eating a vegan diet the day his adoptive parents met him. Ryan's parents eat vegan for their health, for animals, and for the environment. They want to teach Ryan to respect the animals we share this world with and that his actions have consequences beyond him.
