Owen was raised vegetarian, and when he was 3 years old, he noticed that his mother (a vegetarian) and his father (a meat-eater) ate differently and asked why. After explaining both sides, he chose to stay vegetarian. For his fifth birthday party, he chose to donate all the money from his piggy bank ($42) to a local animal shelter. Trinnu has been vegetarian since she was born. She began learning about the cruel treatment of farmed animals before she was a 1 year old after visiting the Farm Sanctuary in New York. She even sponsored a pig who lived there, and now she's sponsoring a goat named Zuzu. Last year, Trinnu proudly led the local walk for farmed animals and chanted, "Don't eat meat!"
