Help Elephants Mission
We know we’ve been asking you to work on this a lot lately, but it’s really, really important, so … please ask Chicago’s City Council members to help our elephant friends by passing the Elephant Protection Ordinance. All your pictures and letters are making a huge difference, so please keep them coming!
The ordinance, or bill, is super important for elephants. If passed it would be the start to getting elephants out of circuses for good because it would ensure that all elephants brought into Chicago are treated kindly and respectfully by banning the use of sharp bullhooks and electric prods, guaranteeing that they have more space to roam freely, and making sure that they have better living conditions. This means that trainers couldn’t punish elephants with bullhooks or electric prods and that elephants couldn’t be kept in chains or hauled around in cramped boxcars or trailers.
Now, we know that lots of you have been working on the “Ban Bullhooks” mission, and we want to give you a big “Thank You!” for that, but the elephants still need your help. And as always, we’ll send you some goodies! So here’s what we want you to do:
1. Draw a picture of elephants who are enjoying their lives in the wild, and send it to Chicago’s City Council. If you live in Chicago, click here to find your council member and where to send your picture.
If you don’t live in Chicago, send your picture to:
