PETAs colorful new comic, A Chickens Life!, takes you to an animal sanctuary to meet some of the chickens who are living there, happily ever after, having been rescued from terrible situations.
Hens in egg farms are crammed into filthy cages so small that they can't even spread their wings and must constantly struggle for space just to stand or lie down. Their beaks are cut-off, causing such pain that many birds can't eat for days. The egg industry throws away millions of male chicks into the trash every year. Other chickens are used in classroom experiments, such as chick-hatching programs, and sold to farms or left to starve when the experiment ends. Billions of others are raised in huge, dirty sheds and forced to grow so big so fast that their legs give way from the strain.
