Spider-Man super cutie and vegetarian Tobey Maguire is really bugged by animal cruelty “I never really liked meat in the first place,” says Tobey. “I had a really tough time eating chicken, because I would start imagining what I was eating and what kind of life the animal led.” When buffing up for his Spider-Man role,Tobey had no problem with protein. He simply ate “lots of tofu!” he said. We think Green Goblin Willem Dafoe is da-vine, too. Spider-Man’s on-screen foe is a spider fan in real life: “They are beautiful creatures,” says Willem.“I don’t ever squash them.”

Forget About Saving the Day: Chris Just Wants You to Save Him some Tofu!

When punk music darlings Saves the Day hit the road, tofu and Thai food aren’t far behind.Vegan singer Chris Conley says his fave road food is baked tofu—he doesn’t leave home without it. Guitarist Ted Alexander, who’s vegetarian, goes for Indian and Thai food as well as Amy’s frozen veggie dinners.

Check out these cheap eats:

* For about a buck, you can score a bean burrito (“No cheese, please!”) at Taco Bell or a baked potato at Wendy’s. Subway’s Veggie Delite—on Italian bread, minus the cheese and mayo—is deelish!

* Papa John’s, Little Caesar’s, and Sbarro’s all have vegan pizza crust and sauce—try a cheese-free “pie” piled high with veggies.

* Auntie Anne’s just might be better than mom’s! Except for the Parmesan Herb and Sour Cream and Onion flavors, all of Auntie Anne’s pretzels are animal-free—just ask for “no butter.”

* Got a bit more time? We all love the veggie burgers at Johnny Rockets and Ruby Tuesday.

* Burger King’s BK Veggie™ is no longer vegan (they’ve added egg whites), but it’s still a great meat-free option for vegetarians on the run.
