Who is surprised that P!nk is as kind as she is cool? This Grammy winner and chart-topper is an animal champ who refuses to wear fur, thinks hunting stinks, and takes every opportunity to spread the word. P!nk recently told a reporter, “Every book report I did in school was about animal rights. I rescue dogs. I love animals. If I can use my celebrity to get more people involved, I will.”

If you want to be an animal defender, too, just “think P!nk.” Take a look at some of her recent actions:

FUR-FREE HOT SPOTS
P!nk’s such a fan of the new “no fur” dress code at many hip nightclubs that she appeared on a poster created by PETA to promote the fur-free setup at one of them. “The Only Wildlife at Centro-Fly Is Human—No Fur Coats Allowed,” read P!nk’s poster, which greeted clubgoers near the door and was plastered all over New York when the fur-free policy was first announced. At another club, New York’s Spa, manager Steve Lewis has directed door attendants to turn away any fur-wearing club crawler (except for Steve’s dog, who often hangs out there).

VILE VOGUE

The fearless fur foe didn’t stop there. P!nk then took on Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who shamelessly features fur in her magazine every chance she gets. In a handwritten letter to Wintour, P!nk asked, “Won’t you use your unique position to help fashion evolve rather than rot?” She added, “If your readers knew the horrors that these animals go through to supply a hairy swath of skin, coated with chemicals to stop it from decomposing, they would gag.” P!nk later refused to play at a New York event when she learned that cold-hearted Anna was one of the hosts.

P!nk Takes Aim at “Bad Will’s” Hunting ...
P!nk was thrilled to hear that Prince William wanted her to sing at his 21st birthday bash—until she found out that he hunts. “We all make mistakes in our lives and we can all change. Hopefully you’ll have a change of heart and find more interesting things to do with your spare time than kill animals,” P!nk wrote to William. “Then maybe I’ll come play at your next birthday ...”

Topping Her Wishlist:

Elephant Emancipation
Last Christmas, P!nk asked for a gift for Gildah, a lonely elephant living at a Las Vegas hotel: her freedom. “With the holidays upon us, ‘peace on Earth’ seems out of reach for much of the world this year, but won’t you please grant it to one pathetic, old, lonely elephant on the Vegas strip?” P!nk wrote in a letter to entertainers Siegfried and Roy.
