Animals are nicer as friends than as fur. We know what you’re thinking (“Duh!”), but a few furry fashionistas out there still don’t get it. That’s why we’re teaming up with your favorite celebrities to get the word out that fur is cruel, not cool. Here’s what some famous “fur foes” are doing:

When we first got together with One Tree Hill’s lovely Daniella Alonso, she told us that she’d do anything she could to help animals. She’s been rescuing strays off the street and volunteering at animal shelters since…forever. She would never wear fur, not even just a bit of trim. So she was the perfect choice to star in our ad reminding viewers that rabbits are somebunnies, not coat collars or cuffs.

Nicholas was named one of People en Espanol’s “50 Most Beautiful People,” but this former OC heartthrob’s appeal is far from skin-deep. He has a soft spot for animals, which is why we adore him. Nicholas and his best furry friend, Jack, are the latest stars of PETA’s campaign pointing out that the animals killed for their fur have feelings and families, just like dogs do. (Previous ads featured Charlize Theron and American Idol’s Simon Cowell.) Jack’s one lucky pup to have such a smart, sensitive pal!

The foursome behind the in-your-face pop album This Island thinks fur looks best on bunnies, not on human beings.

Wait a minute! Foursome? Kathleen, Johanna, J.D., and…Karen? That’s right! Karen is Johanna’s rabbit friend of six years, and she hopped into the spotlight during the shooting of Le Tigre’s anti-fur ad for PETA.

“Since some of my closest friends have been bunnies, wearing their fur—or any fur—is something I would never do,” says Johanna, who’s a vegetarian. “Actually, I don’t encounter that many people wearing real fur. In the circles I travel in, I don’t think anybody thinks it’s cool.” Karen twitches her nose in agreement.

Bert, Jeph, and Quinn from The Used wanted Wet Seal to stop using bunnies as fashion accessories. The rockers signed a letter to Wet Seal CEO Joel Waller, telling him, “Young people today realize that fur is horrifically cruel, and they don’t want to support a store that supports the mistreatment of animals. You will gain countless compassionate consumers by dumping fur.” Guess what? Wet Seal listened and dropped fur from its fall line! Stay tuned to see if the temporary “cease fur” turns into a permanent ban.

Never pass up a chance to educate your family, friends, teachers, or anyone else about the cruelty involved in turning animals into fur clothing.
