What to Eat?

Going meat-free doesn’t have to mean giving up the foods that you love! Whether you’re suffering from an after-school snack attack or a case of the munchies at the mall, we’ve found some great vegetarian eats that will cure all your cravings. Check ’em out!

Snack Attack

School’s out, you’re at home, and a snack-attack strikes. What to do? Grab one of these fast—and animal-free—snacks! Some of these you can get at health food stores; others, like the Hormel veggie chili, you can find at any supermarket. A lot of supermarket snacks are vegan (unfrosted strawberry Pop-Tarts, anyone?)—just check the labels.

Heat ’n’ Eat
Hormel vegetarian chili
Tofutti Macaroni & Better Than Cheese
Amy’s bean and rice burrito
Health Is Wealth Chicken-Free Nuggets
Lightlife Smart Dogs
Microwave popcorn (hold the butter, please)
Grab ’n’ Go
Foney Baloney
Tofurky Jurky
Veggie Bootie
Fruit leather
Pretzels
Clif Bars
Hydrox cookies or Newman-O’s
Cracker Jack

And check out some of these other cheap eats:

• For about a buck, you can score a bean burrito (“No cheese, please!”) at Taco Bell or a baked potato at Wendy’s.
• Subway’s Veggie Delite—on Italian bread, minus the cheese and mayo—is deelish!
• Got a bit more time? We all love the veggie burgers at Johnny Rockets.
• Burger King’s BK Veggie™ (it’s no longer vegan because they’ve added egg whites, but it’s still a great meat-free option for vegetarians on the go)
